The Importance of Point of Sales Systems in Family and MWR Programs

A Point of Sales (POS) system is a computer based data entry system that Family and MWR programs use to capture orders, track participation, record data, and display and print receipts for goods or services rendered from Family and MWR facilities on any Army Garrison. It has the capability to perform multiple functions such as: calculating cash due for an order entered; recording method of payment; keeping track of cash, checks and credit card transactions in a cash drawer; creating hourly and daily sales records; recording daily cash shortage and overage; keeping track of menu items sold; tracking of program membership; tracking daily visits; and track membership swipes; and recording information on repeated customers. They are in place to add convenience, accuracy, and a time saver for daily program management and operation.
